Paraphrased lines 3038-3075
The Geats saw something very peculiar,
the frightening and dangerous dragon lay on the ground,
glaring at him. The fierce dragon
was partially burnt and had various colors
all throughout his body,
it's length was fifty feet. He glimmered
in the night, flew back
to his den; but now he is dead
he would never enter the world again.
next to him were dishes and pitchers,
quiet bottles, priceless swords
rusted away, no matter how well they have been made
for they sat for thousands of winters.
The huge storage, filled with gold
from the ancients, spell-bound,
meaning no one was allowed
to get into the cache unless God,
the keeper of the place, the winner of winners,
allowed one to enter that had pleased him-
his eyes had to be worthy- enough to open it.

It led to nothing
the one that had hidden wrongly
the riches had gone. The dragon first killed
many men, later had returned the favor
to end the battle. Famous for his deeds
a great warrior would be, but it's still a mystery
how he shall die, when he will stop
breathing in the mead-hall.
Great Beowulf, he fought through hard times
and he faced the deadly dragon. He was inexperienced
as to how he will die.
The chiefs that buried his gold
chanted that until the world ends
that anyone that stole from it would be cursed
and punished for their sin,
pull by the hell of Christianity.
Beowulf stares at his gold
the first time, it wasn’t self-centered.
